Pet tag questions

What does the finder see when they scan?

Your pet’s photo and name, the notes you picked (shy, needs meds, microchipped) and big buttons to say they found your pet, video or voice call you, or chat. Calls and chats go through iQR, so your number and address stay private. The finder needs no app.

Does the dog tag QR code have GPS?

No. There is no battery and nothing to charge. When someone finds your pet and taps “I found”, they can tap “Share where I am”. Their phone asks them first, and if they allow it, you get a pin on a map. It works the moment someone finds your pet, not before.

Who gets the alert?

You and the people who accept your invite: a partner, the kids, the sitter. They get it at once in the free iQR Alerts app for iPhone and Android and can answer the finder there. Someone without the app gets a text or an email with a link to read the chat; to answer, they need the app.

What is lost mode?

If your pet goes missing, switch on lost mode. The tag’s page turns red, says your pet is lost and shows your reward, and every alert starts with LOST. Every scan alerts your family either way. Switch it off when they are home. A real finder never needs money first.

My pet is microchipped. Why add a pet ID tag?

The chip does its job at the vet or the shelter, hours later. The tag is for the person on the sidewalk with a phone and no chip reader, and it reaches you while your pet is still in front of them.

How do I get the tag?

Print your QR pet tag yourself, free: sticker paper on a blank metal or plastic tag, sealed with clear epoxy or tape. Or take the file to an engraving shop. You get round tags (1.25 and 1.5 in), a collar band and a crate sticker.
