Doorbell questions

What is a QR code doorbell?

A doorbell sticker for your door. A visitor scans it with their phone camera and taps Ring. Your phone rings like a call in the free iQR Alerts app, wherever you are, and you talk by video or voice. They never see your number.

Whose phone rings?

Everyone on the doorbell’s list who has the iQR Alerts app, all at the same time: you, your partner, a roommate. The first to answer talks to the visitor. People on the list without the app get a text or email when someone rings or leaves a note.

Does it need power or wiring?

No. It is a doorbell without wiring, batteries or a chime: a printed plate or sticker. Laminate it if it hangs outdoors. The visitor’s phone needs mobile data, and your phone rings wherever it has a connection.

Does the visitor need an app?

No. A QR doorbell opens a web page from the phone’s camera, so a courier or a neighbour can ring on the spot. Only you and the people on your list use the app.

What if nobody answers?

They can leave a video or voice message, or a quick note like “Package delivered” with a photo. At night (10 pm to 7 am, or your own hours) nobody’s phone rings or buzzes; you get one summary of the night’s notes in the morning. Prank rings? Switch rings off; the plate still takes notes.

Is it a security camera?

No. It never records people walking past. The visitor’s camera is on only during a call they start. Nothing is saved unless they leave a video message or add a photo to a note; photos are kept for 30 days.
